Black History Month

I ws reading something the other day and the writer of the piece said something about Rosa Parks that was not true. It had to do with the seating on the bus although I can't recall at this moment what it was. But what the author said showed that she didn't know about the situation regarding the racial-based seating on buses in Montgomery. I want to say that the writer said she hadn't wanted to sit in the back of the bus. I'll check and come back.

Anyway--

At the time, there was a 'white' section on the bus and a 'black' section. The black section could be moved back so more white people could have seats. Theoretically, blacks could have had to stand in the aisles if there were a busful of white people that wanted to sit.

Mrs. Parks sat in the first row of the black section. She refused to give up that seat. And she wasn't physically tired-- she was tired of the biased system. And she'd been trained at Highlander to protest.

Opportunity and preparation meeting-- definitely changed the U.S.
